Virtual Holiday Fundraiser

Build a Virtual Snowman

Orbus Business Networks recognizes that non-profits throughout the city need our support more than ever. Many people are going through very challenging times in many walks of life.

Every year our members host a holiday dinner to network and raise funds for a local non-profit. Unfortunately with covid, this is not possible. As community-minded businesses, our members would still like to come together virtually and raise funds to help our local non-profits during this holiday season. Join our virtual race to build virtual snowmen to raise funds!

This year, our goal is to raise funds and awareness for three non-profits supporting three distinct causes. Our goal is to raise $400 dollars for each non-profit.  Additionally, we will raise awareness for each non-profit mission throughout the next couple of weeks.

1. Vancouver Island Crisis Society
The Vancouver Island Crisis Society is committed to providing accessible voice, text and chats crisis intervention and suicide prevention services, including postvention programs. They provide emotional support during times of crisis, information about community resources, education intended to promote community wellness and reduce the incidence of suicide. They value the principles of confidentiality, non-judgmental acceptance, and respect for diversity, personal empowerment, and cooperation.

2.  The Y’s Young Moms Program
The Y’s Young Moms Program at Kiwanis Family Centre offers safe, stable, affordable housing for young mothers (aged 16-29) and their child under the age of five years. The program offers an opportunity to live free of violence and substance use. Staff provides flexible individualized support to women working towards their goals including parenting, schooling or employment, emotional and physical wellness, and connecting with their community. Women retain their independence while building resilience, skills and strengths in a community living environment to transition successfully to independent living with their child.

3. The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society.
The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society (VIRCS) is a non-profit organization founded in November 1989 by three former refugees. The centre helps immigrants, refugees, new Canadian citizens, and visible minorities settle and adapt into new lives in Greater Victoria. The multicultural staff annually serves an average of 3,000 clients from all over the world. VIRCS provides a wide range of services to its target group, assisting them with everything from settling in Victoria to finding a job.

Donate by e-transfer or cheque to Orbus Business Networks. Please email orb@orbusnetworks.com

When you donate please specify which non-profit you would like to support this holiday season. If you do not specify we will split the donation into the three non-profits.

Any contribution made to the fundraiser is appreciated and can go a long way in helping these non-profits this holiday season.

The race to build a virtual snowman
Orbus Business Networks wants your help to build three full-sized snowmen! Every donation made will add a piece to the snowman. The larger the donation, the bigger the snowball. Even smaller donations can give the snowman a hat or arms!

The first fully built snowman will win the race!  The first non-profit to reach $400 will receive an additional $100 from our organization.

Prizes to be won

The person who donates the most will win a gift basket. Additionally, Orbus Business Network will donate up to $100 to the winner's favourite non-profit in the virtual race.
